The 11th Frontier Symposium on Electrical Engineering was Successfully Convened in Chongqing


The 11th Frontier Symposium on Electrical Engineering was Successfully Convened in Chongqing on June 22, 2024. Co-organized by the China Electrotechnical Society (CES), Chongqing University, and the Chongqing Society of Electrotechnology, the event brought together over 900 participants, including leading experts, academic leaders, faculty members, and students from universities, research institutes, and equipment manufacturing enterprises in the field of electrical engineering. The meeting was attended by Jia Limin, Vice Chairman of the China Electrotechnical Society; Han Yi, Secretary-General; Yan Zhuo, Deputy Secretary-General; Li Xuejing, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chongqing University Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department; Hu Jianlin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electrical Engineering; Xie Kaigui, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering; and Wu Lijian, Vice President of Anhui University.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Xie Kaigui, with speeches delivered by Han Yi and Li Xuejing respectively.

In his address, Han Yi stated that the society would, as always, uphold the mission and values of the scientific community by uniting all members and electrical engineering professionals to facilitate exchanges and discussions on major scientific challenges, engineering technical difficulties, and industrial technological issues in the field. He emphasized the unwavering commitment to deriving new quality productive forces and core competitiveness through advancements in science and technology, talent development, and innovation, while collaboratively promoting the high-end, intelligent, and green transformation of electrical equipment.

In her speech, Li Xuejing introduced that in recent years, Chongqing University has seized historic opportunities, accelerated the pace of reform and development, and continuously achieved new breakthroughs and milestones in various endeavors. The university's global academic influence has been steadily rising, laying a solid foundation for its accelerated advancement into the ranks of world-class universities. The university has fully accomplished all tasks in the first round of the "Double First-Class" initiative and successfully secured its place in the second round of the "Double First-Class" construction list, with selected disciplines (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Civil Engineering). The university has now fully entered a new stage of development and is in a critical period focused on high-quality growth and striving for excellence in the "Double First-Class" initiative.

The keynote report session was chaired by Xie Kaigui and Wu Lijian, respectively.

The conference invited distinguished experts to deliver keynote speeches on cutting-edge topics: Professor Jia Limin, Vice Chairman of the China Electrotechnical Society and Professor of Beijing Jiaotong University, Professor Xie Kaigui, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University, Professor Yang Fei, Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Professor Ding Yi, Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, and Professor Dai Haifeng from the School of Automotive Studies, Tongji University. They presented keynote reports titled respectively: "Demand, Trends, and Frontier Technologies of Transportation-Energy Integration" (Jia Limin), "Research Advances in Zero-Point Current Regulation Technology for Power System Short-Circuit Faults" (Xie Kaigui), "Reflections and Prospects on the Reliability of New Power Systems" (Yang Fei), "Modeling and Control Technologies of Adjustable Loads for Enhancing Power System Operational Efficiency" (Ding Yi), "From Battery Management to Digital-Intelligent Batteries" (Dai Haifeng).

This year’s forum featured eight thematic sessions, with over 50 invited experts, scholars, and academic leaders delivering specialized reports on topics such as "Power Systems and New Energy," "Electric Machines and Systems," "Power Electronics and Electric Drives," and "High Voltage and Discharge." The sessions provided multi-faceted insights into research hotspots and technological innovations, sharing progress across related fields. The conference received over 1,000 paper submissions, with more than 700 authors participating in oral presentations and poster sessions.

The Academic Forum on Frontier Issues in Electrical Engineering (FAFEE) was established by the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering as a premier platform to promote disciplinary development and interdisciplinary integration in electrical engineering. Since it established in 2004, FAFEE has been held eleven times. It focuses on cutting-edge topics, research innovation, and significant advances in electrical engineering, aligning with national priorities and continually promoting talent development and technological innovation. FAFEE has made remarkable contributions to the academic prosperity and scientific progress in China’s electrical engineering field. As a major academic conference in this discipline, FAFEE has been continuously listed in the "Important Academic Conference Guide" by the China Association for Science and Technology, attracting widespread attention and enthusiastic participation from the electrical engineering community.
