On November 6, 2024, Professor Zeyuan Li, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, and Distinguished Honorary Professor at Virginia Tech visited our institute for academic exchange and delivered a lecture. Professor Kaigui Xie, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, attended the meeting, which was chaired by Vice Dean Xiong Du.
On behalf of the school, Dean Kaigui Xie extended a warm welcome to Professor Li and his delegation. He also provided an overview of the recent developments of the university and the school, and presented Professor Li with a commemorative gift from Chongqing University.
Vice Dean Xiong Du introduced Professor Li’s academic achievements and distinguished career. Professor Li then delivered a remarkable lecture titled "My Journey to Power Electronics." In his talk, he traced the historical development of power electronics, shared highlights from his own academic journey, and discussed key technologies in the field. His lecture not only broadened the international perspective of our faculty and students but also conveyed his profound insights on life and scholarship. Professor Li emphasized the importance of recognizing one’s strengths, acknowledging one’s weaknesses, and pursuing research driven by genuine interest over the long term.
The event was also attended by Mr. Zixing Ke, Vice Chairman of Delta Group; Mr. Jinfa Zhang, Director of the Shanghai Design Center; Mr. Guisong Huang, Director of Design Engineering; Mr. Yueyong Meng, R&D Manager; Ms. Xiaoyue Wang from the Public Welfare Department; as well as faculty and student representatives from the School of Electrical Engineering.
Following the lecture, Professor Li and his delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment Technology and the Chongqing University History Museum.
