The 3rd National Workshop on Linear Plasma Devices Successfully Held in Chongqing


From December 13 to 16, 2024, the 3rd National Workshop on Linear Plasma Devices was successfully held in Chongqing. A total of 104 researchers from 37 institutions, including the Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Dalian University of Technology; University of Science and Technology of China; Beihang University; and ENN Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd., participated in the workshop. The event was hosted by the Plasma Physics Division of the Chinese Physical Society and organized by the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University, together with the State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment Technology.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Wang Xiaogang from Harbin Institute of Technology, on behalf of the Plasma Physics Division of the Chinese Physical Society, introduced the background and general overview of the workshop, and offered suggestions for its future development. Professor Hu Jianlin, Party Secretary of the School of Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University, extended a warm welcome to all experts, introduced recent developments at Chongqing University and its School of Electrical Engineering, and invited all participants to strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation. The opening ceremony was hosted by Associate Professor Chang Lei from the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University.

This workshop featured 52 presentations, including 21 invited talks and 31 oral presentations. A hybrid format was adopted, with in-person sessions and online live streaming via Tencent Meeting and the Ko Enjoy academic platform, accumulating a total of 17,086 online views.

During the workshop, a roundtable meeting of the Organizing Committee of the National Workshop on Linear Plasma Devices was also convened. Participants discussed and analyzed the current status and future directions of linear plasma device research, and finalized the host and dates for future workshops. Some participants also visited the School of Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University, State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment Technology, the university history museum, and the university campus.

Background of the Workshop:

To enhance communication and collaboration among researchers and to advance research on linear plasma devices, major research institutions across China jointly agreed to establish the National Workshop on Linear Plasma Devices. Centered on the theme of linear plasma devices, the workshop aims to promote the exchange and sharing of the latest advances and research outcomes in plasma science, materials science, advanced diagnostics, high-voltage technology, strong magnetic field technology, nuclear fusion energy, and other related fields. It is committed to fostering interdisciplinary academic exchanges, promoting integration across different scientific domains, and thereby driving scientific and technological progress in China in these areas.
