The Ministry of Science and Technology issued a document to announce the list of 69 national field scientific observation and research stations, including the Hunan Xuefeng Mountain Energy Equipment Safety Field Scientific Observation and Research Station built by Chongqing University. This is the first national field science observation and research station approved to Chongqing University. making Chongqing University the first to have two national scientific research platforms approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in the discipline of electrical engineering.
Hunan Xuefeng Mountain Energy Equipment Safety National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station (referred to as Hunan Xuefeng Mountain Field Station) was founded in July 2008. Designed and constructed by the power grid equipment safety and natural disaster prevention innovation research team, this field station was presided over by Professor Xingliang Jiang from the School of Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University, a pioneer in my country's high-voltage transmission industry. After 13 years of continuous construction and improvement, Hunan Xuefeng Mountain Field Station now covers an area of 100,000 m2.
Xuefeng Mountain Field Station will focus on three areas of construction: atmospheric structure covered with ice and snow and its disaster prevention, energy equipment lightning strikes and its disaster prevention, and energy equipment environmental adaptability. The field station will carry out long-term and stable scientific observations, original data collection, and multidisciplinary research on basic theories and key technologies of engineering applications. Xuefeng Mountain Field Station will provide original scientific data and key technical support for energy equipment safety, build an internationally leading cooperative platform for energy equipment safety and natural disaster prevention. In addition, Xuefeng Mountain Field Station will also play a leading and demonstrative role in talent training, technological innovation and achievement popularization, promoting the development of electrical engineering disciplines.
